F1RST BLOG EVER!!!

So this is the first blog that I have ever posted in my life. I am sort of excited and stressed about it at the same time! What, with all the gadgets and craziness to add-I do not know where to start! I am a full-time student at Parkland College and I am trying to work part time to stay afloat. Aside from all the personal stuff, I have to post graphic design images that I like or attract me to them and mention where I found the image, what it stands for, dicuss its quality, and describe its function.

"Collage Poster"

One of my favorite ‘looks’ is the sort of old-collage feel of old photos and old paper. It’s a favorite because it lets you work images and text together really easily.  I found this image on psd.tutsplus.com.  The artist is presented on the page that the image is, so I can only say that they did a good job on the creative parts of the collage element.  The use of angular, antiquish images and the color schemes work together nicely.  It is very interesting to see the pieces of tape and the tag being used for surfaces for type.  All in all, a great idea for an event poster.

"Stahlberg, Steven"

I found this picture on StumbleUpon.com with a link to DeviantArt.com.  The artist is Steven Stahlberg, and the piece has no name that I can find.  The reason I chose this piece is because I have always liked dragons ever since I was a little boy.  There is something that really fascinates me about them, especially when they are about to eat a helpless little fairy girl.

"Whine Glass"

I thought that this was a brilliant concept for a 3D piece when I first found it.  It looks just like the glass sitting in front of me but without anything in it thought.  I found it on a blog that eventually led me to a website called abduzeedo.com.  This picture, along with 39 others, are all from really good graphic designers that go above and beyond the average photoshop or illustrator project.  I would be very impressed if I were wrong about that though!

"I FEEL GOOD"

I found this image to be totally awesome and inspiring for the poster project that I will be doing.  It was found on the website, www.herecomesthefuzz.com/designvic/.  It does not say who the person who designed it is, but I am fairly sure it was made recently considering the date on the advertisement.  The colors used were very well thought out;  the choice of the foreground color had to be a light enough blue that would show up well enough against the dark blue background.  There are also some words that pop out with different colors such as orange, yellow, purple, and green in the background to give contrast to the largely used blues.  The font is all the same throughout the poster and is shaped to fit the contours of the facial figure.

"Dragon Food"

This image took me by suprise because at first I did not realize what it was. I found it on the website http://www.thetopthebest.com/, a site that claims to have some of the web's best digital and graphic design pictures. At first I just thought it was really good digital imagery, but upon closer inspection it turned into an ad for Heinz ketchup.  If you have ever heard of the legends behind dragons, then you know that they are fire breathers.  It only makes sense that they baby dragon is drinking Heinz Hot Ketchup as kind of a reminder of the legend behind their capabilities.  Really excellent artwork and incorporation of product to get the point across to the viewer.  It is kind of wild to see condiment companies have such excellent graphic design concepts for their products, but I really like it and will keep my eye open for images like this in the future.

"....Amazing"

Artwork by Christiano Siqueria-Graphic Design Blog and Web Design Blog on Blogger.  I found this and my jaw just dropped.  I think it really pops and resembles the new wave of artwork in the future.

"Pocketful of Fresh"

I thought this was a great idea for Listerine PocketMist.  The subject was found in CMYK Magazine located in the Parkland Library.  The Art Director is Timothy Chen, the photographer is Elwin Goh, and the instructor of the artist is Scott Wilson.  This art originated from The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.  The tag line for this product says, "New Listerine PocketMist.  A convenience pocket size oral care."  It is quite interesting the way the artist decided to take the size differences into a dramatic effect for the product. If you have ever tried Listerine from the bottle, you know the kind of powerfully clean feeling you mouth feels after swishing.  The placement of the strips located in the bottom right hand corner gives you an idea of what the product is because it is by itself.  The ad tells just how powerful they must be with the resemblance of having that big bottle of mouthwash right in your pocket.  Ingenious idea in my opinion.
