This is an image that I found to be very interesting. I found it in a Graphis Design Annual 2009 edition. This is one of many great books of amazing graphic design images found in the Parkland Library. The caption in the bottom right hand corner says; "Children At War: Witness Spotlights the Tragedy of Child Soldiers Worldwide." This photo was released by Harry Pearce of PersonalAsUniversal. I find the message in this image to be very political, and by the looks of the child, he wants to have nothing to do with politics. By looking at the boy's facial expression, it seems clear that he would rather be holding a toy gun rather than a real one. After all, he basically is an infant compared to most men who die for their countries. The design really resembles tragedy by putting the word "infant" in white which could mean the purity of all children put in this position, while the red surrounding the word could mean the war they are exposed to. This makes for a heavy contrasting in color as well as to the definition of the word "infantry" as the last two letters are in black. The black letters of the word may define death and a dark future for these children.
This blog is to be used for updating any new graphic design pictures that I find interesting and they will be posted and commented on.
F1RST BLOG EVER!!!
So this is the first blog that I have ever posted in my life. I am sort of excited and stressed about it at the same time! What, with all the gadgets and craziness to add-I do not know where to start! I am a full-time student at Parkland College and I am trying to work part time to stay afloat. Aside from all the personal stuff, I have to post graphic design images that I like or attract me to them and mention where I found the image, what it stands for, dicuss its quality, and describe its function.
